Verse of the day ~Pleasing Others~

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Galations 1:10

Not a lot of time today to post on this topic, but so much could be said…
I would like to start out by telling you to examine yourself in light of this scripture. Last year I had a brother confront me about being a men-pleaser. If you have read my testimony you will understand that I was very self righteous during this time. God used this encounter to convict me even further and forced me to examine myself, and my motives. I will say that even today I know that without God I would fall right back into this sin!

Why do you do what you do? Many of you that follow me also have blogs. Are they to praise God? Or to make something of yourself?

I think most of you have very good intentions. But let us be careful lest we be deceived…

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. I Corinthians 10:12

Their are two categories of people that fall into this condemnation

  • People who preach the truth but only to get a name, or be seen of men.
  • People who preach heresies that make people feel good and leads to idolatry.

Our motivation for all things must be to the glory and praise of Jesus Christ. We must be diligently seeking his will, and preaching the whole truth of the Gospel! This includes teaching men the schoolmaster of the law, convicting them of their sins in not keeping it, bringing them to the cross where repentance and life begin, and what regeneration does to a believer.

Too often we leave something out of this message and we end up with false converts, folks who were never really convicted, they were just moved. People that want to take him as savior but not Lord!

why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Luke 6:46

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 7:21

We need to set our affections on things above and not the things of this world. This is why conviction of sin is so important… A true believer cannot go on loving the things of this world. We have been saved from the things of this world if we are his.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above Colossians 3:1

As I stated, I don’t have a lot of time today so I am going to have to cut this post short. I hope I wasn’t too hasty in writing this, and haven’t confused anyone. My Salvation comes through the work of Jesus Christ for me.

God Bless!
