Verse of the day ~Jesus Christ~

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.  Acts 4:12

Today has been quite the day. Thank God for this verse, I truly needed to hear it. I was raised a Christian. My Parents, Grandparents, Great-Grandparents, all Christians. I find that many times I take for granted the fact that I was born into a Godly home. I need to be reminded that there is no salvation in my heritage. I must work out my own salvation with fear and trembling as the word says. I must come to the end of myself, and give my life into the hands of him who died for me. In him is my salvation.

I greatly struggle with self-sufficiency. I find that in my quest to get closer to God, many times I drag myself away from him.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Romans 8:7-9

This carnal man cannot bring me closer to God. My raising cannot bring me closer to God. Actions of own cannot bring me closer to him. Jesus Christ died to free me from myself. Instead of trusting the arm of the flesh, I only need to draw closer to him. Study his word and present my body a living sacrifice.

Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?    But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. 2 Corinthians 13:5-6

When Samuel ordained Saul to be king over the children of Israel, the bible says that God gave Saul a new heart, and he became a new man. By trusting in himself he separated himself from God and God eventually cut him off. We can see how irrational he became towards his end. He had become reprobate to the spirit, and we see how God gave him over to it. “only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.”  “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded”

I desire to walk even as he walked. I know that I can’t do it of myself. I pray that I can lay down this flesh and walk in the spirit. My Salvation is in the name of Jesus. No other way can save.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

God Bless!

Dear srbelle (Stephen?)! Thank you for an edifying post. Yes, we must be at the end of ourselves, and all only for Him. He will finish the good work He started in you. This is the rest, this is the refreshment.
    God bless you!

Thank you Maria! I believe he will finish the work. There are days the devil will buffet us. (Like today for me) and I think it is important to stand on the word and remember where our strength comes from! I know I am not personally strong enough to defeat the devil. But my God is. Jesus rebuked the devil in the wilderness with scripture. His word is such a strength. This verse was perfect for me today!

Yes, His Word is such a strength – it keeps us on the narrow way, we sheep!
Hope and pray that you continue to have strength for your day,
      Maria
