Verse of the day ~Do Good~

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. GALATIANS 6:10

Do I do good at every opportunity? If I am being honest, the answer is no. There are times that I could take the opportunity to do something good for someone and I talk myself out of it. It is easy to get lazy in life. to tell myself that I have done enough for the day. There is that brother that is sick, the widow that hasn’t been able to get out lately, the young couple that hasn’t been to church in a while… If we lack one thing in the world today, it is not hurting people. Many people hurt, many you interact with every day.

My wife and I went through a period of time about a year ago that we were having a hard time staying encouraged. Our daughter had been sick off and on and that had kept us from getting out much. I was also having some problems with my back. During this time a friend of ours lost her Husband. I had thought of her a few times but hadn’t taken the time to call yet. about a week or two after his funeral she called me to see how we were all doing. She asked about my back, how my wife was doing, and how our little girl had been feeling. I felt so small that I had been putting off calling her, and here she was calling to check on us. Her and her husband had been such an example to us as a young couple. They always showed care for others, and I know offered up many prayers for those in need. She has continued this pattern of good works, even as a widow.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16

I knew I had fallen short of being the image of Jesus Christ. I had become swallowed in the cares of this life, and ignored the spirits call to good works. I was reminded of the scripture “Him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” We as the body of Christ are members one of another. We are in this together. It is so important that we don’t let the cares of this life weigh us down. We can become like Martha.

Jesus answered and said unto her,  Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:       But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:40-42

One thing is needful. Sit at the feet of Jesus, present yourself to him, he will send you. We are the body of Christ. His hands and his feet are in us. Are we reaching? are we going? His will is done through us. We are called ambassadors for Christ. Representatives of the heavenly kingdom. Let’s show the Love of God to others today!

God Bless
