Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. (James 1:14 KJV)
Lucifer, son of the morning. How cunning you are.
This flesh that we walk in is always subject to Carnal lust. Satan tempts us with our fleshly desires. When Jesus was hungry from fasting 40 days, what was the first thing satan tempted him by?
Understanding and acknowledging our weaknesses in the flesh is one of the first steps to repentance. Once you understand that you are a sinful creature, unable to do any good thing of yourself, desperately wicked, without God, hating God, Taking pleasure in unrighteousness, (I could go on…) you get the point though.
” And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:” Ephesians 2:1-6
“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”1 John 4:8-10
You see how though we were gone astray. We loved our sins and lived in them. God, in his great mercy has saved us through Jesus Christ his son. That we might become his sons and daughters. We don’t have to continue loving the sins and lusts of the flesh. We are not in bondage to the prince of the power of the air (Lucifer)
“For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.” Romans 8:20-21
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Do not forget that you were once purged from your lusts and sins. You are a new creature in Christ Jesus. Go live like one!
God bless
