Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬ KJV)

There are a few directions I could go with this scripture. What I want to talk about in regard to this verse requires me to go back to the beginning…

Genesis 1:1
” Genesis
​ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
Genesis 1:26-27
” And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness….. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
Genesis 3:6-7
” … she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened…”
Ecclesiastes 7:29
“God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.”

In the beginning, man was created in the image of God. We had no knowledge of sin, and were upright in his eyes. Being beguiled by the lust for knowledge we fell from grace.
So sin entered the world by the things we had sought out. God added travail, toil and death as a constant reminder of the weight of sins.
Since that day we have done nothing but sin.” And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” not only is it all we do, it’s all we can or want to do!
” Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”
This being the case with men, what shall we do!?

Romans 8:20-21
” For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.”

This is one o my favorite promises in scripture. Though we were given over to sin. We were subject to vanity, but God had a reason for all this. From the foundation of the World God had planned to send us a savior.

Romans 5:12-19
” Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned… For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ… For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)… For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”

Romans 5:6
” For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.”

He died to free us from the bondage of sin and death. He has given us the spirit of life and peace. We must now live for him. He has raised us for this purpose. Praise God for his abundant mercies.
