Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 1 JOHN 4:13-15
It has been awhile since I have made a post on here! It was such a strength to me to just spend a little bit of time in God’s word everyday. I don’t want to become exalted, or think more highly of myself than I ought to. By writing this post I want to express that I am in no way some super human Christian that never loses focus… I have struggles just like any of my brothers and sisters, and am in continual need of the Grace of God to give me strength and see me through each day. That being said, This verse can give so much comfort and confidence as children of the most high! I want to reflect on the beauty of these simple verses…
“Hereby know that we dwell in him, and he in us” God, in his abundant mercy and grace, grants me a glimpse of himself through the Holy Ghost. I feel that still small voice within… I honestly don’t understand what the Spirit is trying to say all the time! But, the comfort of knowing that the Lord is gently leading me on is enough to bring me joy.
“Because he hath given us of his Spirit.” God the Father sent Jesus Christ, his only begotten son into the world. When Jesus ascended into Heaven he promised the gift of the Holy Ghost to those who believe. This gift was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost when the disciples were filled with the Holy Ghost! The Holy Ghost still dwells in those that have committed their lives into the blood of Christ. Those who have died to themselves and been raised in the likeness of his resurrection!
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. John 16:13 (KJV)
So we have this confidence, God dwells in us, and we dwell in him. I am so thankful for this reminder! It is so easy to get distracted and consumed with all the things going on in our lives. We must call to remembrance our vocation in the Lord. We have been called to and labor with all our might in his kingdom! Thank God for his mercies and grace!
